ViroLab kick-off meeting on March 1stThursday, 06 April 2006The official opening of the ViroLab project took place in Amsterdam, Holland on the first day of March. The representatives of all participating members went through not only a launching ceremony of ViroLab but also designed and developed many significant details describing the various activities of the virtual laboratory parties. The kick-off discussions focused on reaching an agreement on the exact content of the 6 work packages of the different ViroLab members and their correlation all mentioned in the Description of the Work. During the meeting, each package leader gave a presentation of their work package and outlined their role in the project to the audience. GridwiseTech was represented by its president, Pawel Plaszczak. The discussions were vital in establishing guidelines, time lines and planning arrangements for the future cooperation in the project. It was decided that a Quality Board would be set up to supervise publications concerning the project – GridwiseTech’s Jakub Dziwisz is one of the members of this board. GridwiseTech is playing a key role in the ViroLab project and the ViroLab Virtual Organisation which will be the binder bringing together the applications. The objective of the ViroLab is to improve collection and interpretations of the genetic information so as to provide a virtual laboratory for decision suppot in viral diseases treatment. This could make a huge impact on the medical and scientific world in the field of Infectious Diseases, possibly revolutionizing the way genetic information is shared in future. |
