To cloud or not to cloud? GridwiseTech at ISC CloudWednesday, 27 October 2010How to combine traditional relational database and modern cloud computing technology? Pawel Plaszczak, President of GridwiseTech, will be sharing his insights at the ISC Cloud Conference in Frankfurt, on October 28th. RDBMS are not designed for on-demand operations, yet they remain at the heart of conservative data centers. Database vendors are determined to cloud-enable their stack. The question is, to what extent can corporate data centers reap the benefits of virtualization, consolidation and cloud? Pawel, will discuss the technical, political, organizational and financial challenges faced when consolidating a data center that contains a typical business application stack, based on OracleDB. The presentation will be based on real-world case studies taken from the manufacturing and Web industries. The ISC Cloud conference is the first of a series that builds on the popularity of the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC). At the conference both researchers and industry representatives can share ideas and knowledge about cloud computing. It takes place in Frankfurt, Germany, on the 28th and 29th of October, 2010. Pawel's keynote “Database-as-a-Service? Your Corporate Data in the Virtualized Data Center” on October 28th will take place at 2:00 pm, within the “Private, Hybrid & Public Clouds” session. He will also be chairing the session. Click here for full conference details. » |
